Other Initiatives

The Assiniboine Food Security Alliance (AFSA) is involved in several initiatives besides Grow 'N' Share:

Prairie Sun Seed Festival

An event where people get together to swap seeds especially heirloom varieties, or varieties that have been in the family for years if not several generations. The idea is to conserve heritage varieties of garden and field crops for use by many generations of people. A Seedy Saturday event is a way to bring a large number of people together to share seeds and stories and begin to develop individual and community ability to grow their own food. Community Garden - Come & Grow with Us

Provide access to fresh produce and plants as well as access to satisfying labor, neighborhood improvement, sense of community and connection to the environment. Community gardens encourage an urban community's food security, allowing citizens to grow their own food or for others to donate what they have grown.
